Young Reviewers Initiative

About

Tanglewood Publishing was founded in 2003 and has created a wide range of outstanding books for children and young adults including The Kissing Hand and the Ashfall series. We are proud to say that every title we publish is reviewed by readers from its intended audience and age range before publication. We deeply care about whether the books we create truly capture the attention and imagination of our readers, as well as the truth of their experiences.

To ensure that every book we publish is kid-focused, we have created the Young Reviewers Initiative for our middle grade and young adult books. By partnering with schools, libraries, and literary nonprofits across the country, the program connects a wide range of kids and teens with books in the Tanglewood publishing process. They give us their unfiltered feedback through an online survey, and we provide them with an outlet to share their opinions on books written with them in mind and the feeling that their voices matter.

Get Involved

We’re looking for a new generation of smart and thoughtful readers to help us ensure that Tanglewood books continue to be fun, authentic, and written just the way kids and teens want.

If you’re 13 or over

Sign up to be a reviewer through the link below and we will send you manuscripts we have screened and think have potential. In return, we want your honest opinion, good and bad. Through your feedback, you can help raise the level of publishing overall and read some great stories before they are available to the general public.

Think you’re up to the task of becoming one of our special group of Young Readers for Tanglewood Publishing? Great!

If you’re 12 or under

If you are under 13 years old, federal law requires that you have parental permission to register and participate in Tanglewood Publishing’s Young Reviewers Initiative or to receive any of our other e-mail communications. The form is linked below and should be sent to Tanglewood Publishing at the following address:

Ayanna Coleman, Director of Marketing
Tanglewood Publishing
322 W. 52nd Street, #2240
New York, NY 10101

If you have questions, do not hesitate to call us at 812-877-9488.

Teachers, Librarians, Booksellers, and Nonprofit Coordinators

If you are an adult submitting on behalf of a student or have younger students submitting their thoughts, please make sure your school, business, or organization’s blanket permission form includes parental permission for publication of work (manuscript reviews) under the student’s name, grade, and state of residence in Tanglewood Publishing media, including newspapers, radio, TV and their respective Web sites as well as Tanglewood Publishing publications.

If the policy DOES cover the above, please alert Tanglewood Publishing’s Ayanna Coleman at ayanna [at] tanglewoodbooks [dot] com to that effect at the beginning of the year for your students.

If the permission form does NOT suffice, have the students’ parents fill out the form above and send them, in one batch, to Tanglewood Publishing at the above address.
